“Come to me, all you who are burdened and weary, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”. – Matthew 11:28-30
A misconception I had when first going back to church last year was that I had to be ‘clean’ in order to enter the house of God. At the tine, I was still indulging in all of the fleshly pleasures that the world offers, exhausted from life, and unsure if it was possible to lay down all my vices. I knew that I could not do it on my own strength. Then I remembered an analogy someone told me – ‘Trying to become Christ-like before entering church is like cleaning yourself off before getting in the shower.’ I learned that through being in church, and through seeking the Lord, I would be renewed in a way that would cleanse me of all of my sin, inject energy back into my life and remove my desire for things of this world.
The Lord gives us real rest. Some exhaustion can be mended with food and sleep, but weariness is a spiritual issue, and it can only be solved through spiritual healing. I know there is someone out there who has been tired for a very long time. It seems like all of the sleep in the world can’t solve your tiredness, and you are longing to wake up and feel refreshed for once in your life. I’ve come to tell you that you can find true rest in the presence of Jesus. His yoke is easy, his burden is light, his love is healing, his presence is accessible and all he wants you to do is to ask him for help. He has been with you all along, guiding you through every step of your life, and he is waiting for you to turn around and receive his loving embrace.
Praying that everyone reading this has had a great start to your new year. If you are looking for ways to stay committed to your goals and truly change your life for the better, why don’t you give Jesus a try this month ❤ I promise you won’t regret it.
